Chess Professor is built to work entirely on your device. I don’t run servers for the app, there are no user accounts, and I don’t collect, sell, or share your personal information.
What stays on your device
The following is stored only on your iPhone or iPad, using Apple’s standard on-device storage:
- Your games, moves, and coach reviews
- Player profiles you create (names and avatars you choose)
- Puzzle results, lesson progress, and progress statistics
- Your settings, such as board theme, sounds, and haptics
This information is never sent to me or to any third party. Deleting the app removes it from your device. It may be included in your own device or iCloud backups, which Apple manages under your Apple Account.
What I don’t collect
- No analytics, advertising, or tracking tools
- No advertising identifiers and no cross-app tracking
- No location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access
- No accounts, email addresses, or passwords
Purchases
Chess Professor Pro is available as an annual subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. I never see or store your payment details. The app only receives confirmation from Apple that you own Pro, so it can unlock features. You can manage subscriptions in your Apple Account settings, and use Restore Purchases in the app to restore a previous purchase on a new device.
Notifications
If you turn on the optional weekly summary, the app schedules a local notification on your device. It is created on your device from your own data, and nothing is sent to a server. You can turn it off in the app’s Settings or in iOS Settings.
Children
Chess Professor does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. There are no ads, no chat, and no links out of the app apart from the legal pages and Apple’s subscription management.
